The Journey of the Silvana

Summertime Nostalgia: Swimming at Night

Way back when I was a skinny student in early Grade School, I remember always anticipating summer.

And why not? It was a time when a kid does what he is best at doing: having fun. No school work, no assignments. Just pure, unadulterated fun.

Images of playing with neighbors and cousins, of frolicking under the sun, of swimming in the cool waters of Timoga tickled the young minds of Iligan’s Grade School population.

And even though the waters were ice-cold even in the midday sun, this did not stop Iligan’s city folks to visit Timoga and dip in its waters AT NIGHT! Yes, you read that right. We were so into NIGHT SWIMMING that we love having a chance at numbing our nerve endings, and still HAVE FUN!

Now, it’s summer again, but I am very far from Iligan, far from the spine-tingling waters of Timoga.

Here in the metro, real estate developers of condominiums almost always include a pool in the master plan. I got to experience swimming in one of these very recently. Although the waters were warm (I honestly do not think I still can withstand Timoga’s coldness), I still had fun capturing these photos of newfound friends.

A solitary wanderer, I go to places few souls have had the courage to go to. The dry wind whips at my face as I cross the vast expanse of this desert.

Yup it sure was. We had fun even without the sun. šŸ™‚
